First, I hope you didn't throw away your Sunday Tribune yet (or that you can get it out of the recycling bin)! On page 17 of the first section, there is a Jewel-Osco ad. There are a few coupons on it but most importantly, there is one for $10 off any 14-28 lb. Jennie-O, Farm Fresh, Jewel, Perdue or Butterball Fresh or Frozen turkey with a $20 purchase. Go to http://www.smartsource.com/ and print up a $2 Butterball coupon. If you are going to be buying either Stove Top stuffing or Heinz gravy (which would go towards your additional $20 purchase requirement) you can also print the coupon on there for $2 off a Butterball turkey when you buy 5 Stove Top or Heinz. You can use both coupons because the first is off the turkey itself and the second is off the turkey because you are buying additional products. Plus the $10 Jewel coupon, this could make your Thanksgiving turkey super cheap! :-)
Second, I picked up the Spotlight booklet from Jewel when I was there earlier. There is an ad about a special sampling this Saturday, November 21st, from 10am-4pm at many different Jewels. There are many that are participating including the South Elgin & Bartlett stores - unfortunately, not any of the Elgin stores. It shows that they will be giving out samples of Mega Mighty bites, Pillsbury brownie minis and Pillsbury Easy Frost. You can also enter to win a $250 Jewel-Osco gift card.
Ok, onto the new Pillsbury/Smuckers Cat deal. It's not an incredible deal like last week but if you need some of the items then it works out well.
For us, it's the Jif peanut butter that makes it worth it. Amanda only likes Jif and takes a sandwich to school everyday so I will spend the extra money to buy it if I need to but try to stock up if it's on sale. I bought 6 of them (they rang up at $3.39 each at my store for a "sale" price) but were only $2.29 Preferred price so they cost me $13.74 and I received a $5.00 cat so for me, this was a good deal. I could have combined it with the Smuckers so that I could use the coupon from 11/8RP but I didn't have my coupons with me (it was a quick run into Jewel to get something that Amanda needed for school tomorrow) so I just got the Jif. With trying to get ready to leave on vacation in a few days, I don't know if I will make it back to Jewel so I figured I better get them now and I had to use the last of my cats from last week because they will expire while we are gone. Don't forget to check your expiration dates on those!
I have also read about a lot of problems with some of the Hungry Jack potatoes - people have reported that the mashed potatoes are not working. I don't use boxed mashed so I don't know myself but there have been lots of reports on this.
Here are the coupons that match up for the items in the deal:
Crisco oil - 11/8 RP
Eagle sweetened condensed milk - 11/18 RP
Hungry Jack pancake mix - 11/8 RP
Crisco oil cooking sprays - 11/8RP
Crisco extra-virgin olive oil - 9/13 RP, 11/8 RP
Dunkin Donuts coffee - 11/15 RP
Jif peanut butter - $1 off Jif AND Smuckers topping in the 11/8 RP
Smuckers jam, jelly - 9/13 RP, 11/8 RP
Pillsbury frosting - 9/27 RP, 11/8 RP
Pillsbury brownie mixes - 9/27 RP, 11/8 RP
Remember, you can do this deal (it does NOT stack by the way!) using the "sale" price - which is the price that the item rings up before the Preferred discount is taken. These prices vary at different stores so be sure to use the price checker in your store to see what the item rings up at YOUR store. If you CHOOSE to do the deal this way, you are taking a risk and if you do not get your catalina coupon, please do not go to Customer Service and complain! Either, take the hit since you are risking it or return your items right away and you can try again. Sometimes it's a simple thing like picking up the wrong size box or can or the UPC not being the right one (such as the problem with the mashed potatoes) or Catalina's system being down for a minute. Remember to check for the solid green light on the Catalina machine too. I know that repeat these rules each time but it is because there are always new people reading the blog and are doing these cat deals for the first time.
Another good deal is the Sara Lee/Breyers deal - buy one Sara Lee pie for $3.49 and get a tub of Breyers ice cream FREE (like we need more ice cream after the last couple of weeks!) but there is a $.75 coupon in the 10/18RP for the pie and if you didn't use your coupon for the Breyers deal already from the same insert, use it here too to get $1.50 off both - super cheap dessert for Thanksgiving! :-) There is no limit on how many you can buy.
Through Wednesday Mangos and Avocados are $.68 each. That's a great price! 7-Up, Dr. Pepper or Squirt is only $.79 for a 2 liter.
Jewel Boneless Skinless Chicken breasts, Stockman & Dakota boneless chuck roast or Pork roasts are BOGO.
I can't imagine needing any more Pillsbury rolls, pie crusts or cookies after the last month or so of deals, but if you buy 5 participating products, you get 1 lb. free Jewel butter.
Cool Whip is $.99 a tub
Claritin D is not on sale (I don't think - it's not in the ad anyway) but some people have a $3.50 off on their Jewel Avenu so check yours. Also use the $4 coupon from 11/15SS and it will be really cheap!
Happy Shopping!
