Walgreens

I ran into Walgreen's this morning to see if something I saw on It's Hip to Save! worked and sure enough - it does!

Buy 2 Velveeta Shells n Cheese cups - use the BOGO coupon from 8/9SS and then use the Wags coupon from this weeks ad to make them $.89 each. You will receive a $1 RR for buying 2 cups! Money Maker!

Also, buy 2 Glade Soy candles (2 oz.) and use 2 free coupons from 8/9SS and you will get both for free and get a $1 RR! Again, MONEY MAKER!!! If you do not have 2 inserts to get 2 free coupons, then you can buy 3 of the candles, use the free coupon and the $3 off of 2 coupon in the same insert and you will pay $2 and get $1RR back. It will only cost $1 for 3 of them. Not bad! :-)

I did both together, paid $1.30 and got $2 in RR's. Love it!

Sobe Life Water

Go to this link and you will be able to print 2 (per computer) BOGO coupons for Sobe Life Water.

http://hip2save.blogspot.com/2009/08/sobe-lifewater-buy-one-get-one-free.html

She has both the IE and Firefox links on there. It doesn't expire until 9/30 so hopefully they are BOGO somewhere in Sept. and we can get 2 for free! :-)

Jewel

Here are a few more scenarios that have worked for people – I have read these and have not done them myself. Remember, ALWAYS check prices at your store at the price checkers!

2 Keebler grasshopper cookies
2 Keebler carmel filled
2 special K sun dried tomato crackers
$25.10 sale/$16.00 preferred - used 2-$1/2 Keebler and 2-$1 printables for crackers

1 Wesson oil - 5.45 “sale” price
1 hunts diced tomatoes - $1.80 “sale” price
4 Froot Loops - 4.45 “sale” price
Used 2 Q $1/2 Froot Loops Pretax total was $13.50 less $2 in Qs

6 Marie Callendars - $4 “sale” price
1 Hunts ketchup
$16 preferred price – coupons from All You magazine and smartsource.com

The snacks for the band went over very well yesterday so I am trying to stock up on more to bring them some treats for the next game. So, I stopped at Jewel on my way home from Target. I did 1 deal –
7 Keebler cheese & crackers - $3.45 each “sale” =$24.15 -- $14.00 pref. price
2 Hunts tomatoes – $1.80 each “sale” price = $3.60 - $2.00 pref. price
$4 in fresh fruit

Used 3 - $1/2 coupons (8/2) for the crackers, 2 - $2.00 off fruit (fuel for school booklet) and 1 BOGO coupon for the tomatoes (ConAgra booklet) so $1 off
Total Preferred price - $16.00
Less coupons - ($8.00)
Less 1 $5.00 cat - ($5.00)
Total oop - $3.00 plus tax and received a $10 cat!

Target

I have not had a chance to go to Target but wanted write about what I plan to buy so that if you are going earlier than I am, you will have the info. If I have any issues with any of these deals, I will update this post later. ****Update: Wanted to let you know that I went to Target and everything worked great! I did get the overage on the razors (I bought 2) and the coupons did not beep or anything. I got the free OJ for the Nutri-Grain bars, was able to use both mfg. and Target coupon and picked up 2 small packages of coffee for .02 using the $2 off coffee when you buy Nutri-Grain too! I ended up not getting the ice cream or Special K since we REALLY do not need either right now. I did get almost free bananas using 2 - $.50 off bananas Target coupon. I also got 5 Skittles Crazy Cores for free using the Target coupons. I "bought" a ton of stuff and my oop was $.45!! I was VERY excited and impressed the lady behind me!****

Buy 2 Tostitos for $5 and get a free salsa. Use the $1 off coupon when you buy 1 Tostitos chips and 1 salsa at
http://print.coupons.com/Couponweb/Offers.aspx?pid=14803&nid=10&zid=rd17&cid=14561393&bid=ALK0828140810EC91F90B57917

Free Schick razor. Intuition plus, Quattro for women, and Quattro Titanium are $6.99. Use the $4.00 Target coupon from 8/30SS and the $4.00/1 from 7/26SS or 8/23SS or Aug. All You mag. You don’t get overage most of the time at Target – they just adjust the coupon down to the price so do not expect it – if you get it – bonus! They will be reimbursed for the full coupon amount plus .08. If they tell you that they can’t adjust the coupon down (I have never had it happen but have read about people that have), that is wrong – it is in their “workbench” which is their policy book.

Ziplock containers and bags are $2.33 each. Use the coupons from 7/26SS or 8/9SS if you need these.

Free $5.00 gift card when you buy 4 Special K cereal or cereal bars at $2.39 each. Use two $1/1 Special K Blueberry or $.75/1 Special K bars from coupons.com or coupons from 7/12RP or 8/2 Kellogg’s/Keebler inserts plus the $.50/1 Target printable from the Target coupon generator on http://www.organicgrocerydeals.com/. If the Special K crackers are included there is a $1 coupon on coupons.com.

Edy’s ice cream - buy 5 - $2.50 each - get a $5.00 gift card! Use 5 of the $1 Target printable from http://www.organicgrocerydeals.com/. If you have any room in your freezer for more ice cream after all of that Breyer’s from Jewel a couple of weeks ago, this is a great price. As I have said before, the Target coupons say 1 per transaction but I have asked everytime and they always say it's no problem. The South Elgin SuperTarget is great!

12 ct. boxes of Poptarts or Nutri-grain bars are $2.39 each and you get a free Market Pantry OJ when you buy 2. Use the $1/2 from 8/2 Kellogg’s/Keebler. You should be able to use the $.50/1 Target printable too because it’s says Kellogg’s grain or fruit. The Nutri-Grain fits both categories. :-)

Happy Shopping!

Jewel

Woke up at 6:45 today - don't know why since I was still up at 1:30am! If you know me, you know that I value my sleep and am not happy when I wake up early and don't have to. :-)
Anyway, I needed gas and since Jewel gives out the gas rewards, that is where I go to get gas. I figured I would make a quick trip since I was right there. Here is what I got:

2 boxes Special K bars - ($11.18 sale price - $9.00 preferred price)
4 Keebler Crackers & cheese packs - ($13.80 sale price - $8.00 preferred price)
2 cans Hunts tomatoes - ($3.60 sale price - $2.00 preferred price)
I was at $24.98! with the bars and crackers, so I had to throw in a can of tomatoes to get over $25 "sale" price. I had a BOGO free coupon so that's why I got 2.
Watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew - $5.44

So, I am at $24.44 and used

2 - $1/2 coupons from 8/2Kellogg's/Keebler - $2
2 - $1 Special K peelie coupons that I had (no idea where they came from) - $2
1 - BOGO tomatoes coupon - $1
2 - $2 off fruit when you buy Keebler crackers from Fuel for School booklet - $4
2 - $5 cats from yesterday's transaction

Oop was $5.44 plus tax and I received another 2-$5 cats!

FYI, the Yogos in the store do not seem to match the UPC's on the spreadsheet. At my store anyway, none of the UPC's on the shelves were the ones on the list. Don't get it but oh well.

Jewel

Well, I made a trip to Jewel this morning! You didn't think I could go too long without being at Jewel did you?!?! :-)

Last night I was in my basement and going through some stuff (boy am I really stockpiled right now!) and realized that I had a TON of granola bars and fruit snacks (paid $.25/box) so I thought I would share it with the HS band. Tomorrow, they are playing at their first game of the season and I thought this might be a nice treat. There are around 140 kids and as I got everything together, I realized that I would be a few granola bars short. I ran out this morning and got some Nutri Grain bars since they are part of the ConAgra/Kellogg's deal. The 16 count bars have a "sale" price of $6.19 at my store and a preferred price of $4.50. So, I got 4 boxes ($24.76 sale price - $18 preferred price) and 1 can of Hunts tomatoes to get over the $25. I used 2-$1 coupons from the 8/2 Keebler/Kellogg's insert so I paid $17 oop and received $10 back. If this is new to you and confusing, please read the 8/5 post about Jewel catalina deals.

To make this a better deal though - I used 2 coupons from the Fuel for School coupon booklet I found a few weeks back for $2 off store brand coffee when you buy 2 Nutri Grain products. So, I put a couple of different flavors of coffee beans in some bags and hoped I wasn't too much over the $4.00 (which was the value of the 2 coupons). Guess what?!?!?! The coffee was EXACTLY $4.00! I couldn't believe it, I could not do that again if I tried! :-)

I really only needed 2 boxes of cereal bars for the band but with the coffee coupons, it made it worth buying the 4 and it's not like we won't eat them! :-) So, $7.xx after the cat for the coffee and all of those cereal bars is not a bad deal! I will continue to roll the $10 catalina with this deal too and so my oop (out of pocket) will be less next time.

Great new post on www.jillcataldo.com! Go to http://www.magnetic-media.com/jill/node/5011 and check it out. Lots of great ConAgra deal info.

Panera Bread - free breakfast sandwiches

I have cut and pasted the info from the Panera Bread website http://www.panera-chicago.com/community_events.html below about an event they are holding the weekend of Sept. 18th- 20th to help fight hunger! We all have PLENTY of cereal we could donate! :-)

Panera Bread's Second Annual Cereal Drive to Help Fight Hunger All Panera Bread in Chicagoland September 18 - 20 During this weekend, we are opening our doors to a meaningful and relevant cause. We ask Chicagoland residents, from downtown to Dekalb, to donate one box of cereal, which we will collect at our cafes to support those in need across Chicago and Northwest Indiana.

Jewel

Here are some of the scenarios that I have read have worked for people. I myself have not done any and don't know when I will get to the store. Boy, you know I am REALLY stocked when you hear me say that!

Remember, you MUST scan your items at your store at the price checker to be sure that the total adds up to $25. Some stores "sale" prices vary by a few cents and I would hate for you to not get your cats because you were off by $.20 or something like that! This happened to me during the last $30/$15 sale and it was totally my fault because I did not double check prices at the other store I went to. My fault so, Oh well. Also, make sure you grab the right size product! Too often there are 2 cereal boxes next to each other and they look close in size - you must grab the one that is working with the deal. This is when the UPC codes come in handy! If it's on the list, it's the right one!

Remember - use coupons to get your oop (out of pocket) price down! Check http://www.coupontom.com/ for any coupons out there on the products you are interested in. Also, if you received the ConAgra coupon book several weeks back, this is the perfect time to use them - there are good coupons in there! You can mix n match any of the products to get to the $25 but here are some easy ones.

5 Wesson Oils - vegetable or canola
4 Fruit Loops, 3 Frosted Flakes
6 Rice Krispies - great time to use the Vocal Point coupons or 8/2 Fuel for School insert coupons
14 Hunts tomatoes
14 Hunts puddings

Here are a few tips about this deal:

**My understanding is that the Morningstar Farms products are giving problems so maybe wait on those until we hear otherwise. Though I read it worked for someone with the chicken nuggets. You could try - if you do, let me know!
**Same with the Egg Beaters, although they are in the ad, many are saying they did not get the cats when these were in their transaction.
**Osco side items will work only on Preferred price - NOT "sale" price.
**Unlike the last deal - this one DOES NOT stack - you will only get 1 - $10 (2- $5 cats actually) per transaction! You will have to split up your transactions if you want to do it multiple times.
**If you buy the Orville Redenbacher popcorn, it is BOGO - ONLY 1 will count towards your $25 price! The free one rings up at $0.00 so only count the $3.49 for every two boxes!
**Beware of the tags in the store - just because something has a tag, doesn't really mean it's part of the deal - these are put up by people and they do make mistakes. Sometimes employees see that the Keebler cookies are part of it and put tags under all of them. The Sandies cookies for example are part of the deal but the Sandies cookies with cashews are not. Check the list! If you are working this on the "sale" price, you can't go to CS and tell them that there was a tag so you should have gotten your cats - it won't matter - you didn't spend $25 in Preferred price (as described in the ad). Remember - you are gambling if you work it this way. If you are doing this using the preferred prices, well then, you would be able to point out that there was a tag there and you should have received your cats.

There is a lot of info on this deal at http://www.afullcup.com/ - on the right side you will see Store Deals, click on view all stores and then click on Jewel. Also lots of info at www.couponerswanted.com.

I will continue to post scenarios as I read about them working or when I do one myself. As I said before, please comment on here when you do a deal!

Happy Shopping!

Back up and running....

Ok, I am back up and running on my computer. Since we have 2 teens that have their phones attached to them 24/7, (actually so do I since I was given my iPhone for Mother's day) we cancelled our home phone a couple of weeks ago. When my husband called to re-register the internet service - they do not cancel it, it just needs to be re-registered for some reason within a month - the lady had him clear out some cookies on the computer. Well, this messed something up and I could not sign into anything yesterday! Annoying but fixed now so no biggie!

The new Jewel ad looks good and of course the ConAgra deal will be amazing! It actually started a few days ago although it wasn't in the ad, but I have not posted details on it because I have read about a lot of people not getting their cats. Sometimes, it takes a few days for all of the UPC's to be added and for all the glitches to get worked out. I did not want this to happen to any of you and that is why I haven't posted anything on it.

Here is the spreadsheet listing all of the products. (Thanks to GMoney on Jill's site!)
http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AvCNA1X49cYgdDlwWExxdXFxN0tkNk9YU1RWOWVCWkE&hl=en

It is a LOT so you probably don't want to print all of it unless you have to (or have access to free printing!) but you can print the parts that show the items you know you will buy. If you have internet access on your phone, this is GREAT at the store - just bring up the spreadsheet on your phone. This is the reason my wonderful hubby gave me my iPhone - I used it a TON during the last $30/$15 deal. Anyway, this way you will see exactly what items and UPC codes are supposed to work.

Now, remember - this deal will work off of the sale prices. If you don't know what I am talking about, go to the post from Monday, August 3rd on this blog to get more detailed info. You can always use the preferred prices to be sure you get your catalina coupon. If you go off the sale prices, you CAN NOT go to customer service and complain that you didn't receive the cat. They can only go by what's in the ad. If it doesn't work, just let it go because you were gambling on the deal anyway or return the items BEFORE you leave the store. If you leave and then return them, the store is supposed to throw any food item away - even if it's sealed. Remember to ALWAYS scan your items at your store at the price checker (sale prices can vary from store to store) to make sure you get to the $25.00. You must use the "sale" price (middle price in the scanner) and not the shelf tag price to calculate your totals.

I must get to work now but I will post some scenarios later today and all week as I read about them working so keep checking back! If you have a scenario that worked for you, please post a comment on here. This way, we can all help each other see what is working and what isn't.

Happy Shopping!

Walgreens

There is not too much going on at Walgreens this week:

If you received the Vocal Point Kellogg's coupons in the mail, you can make some money on the Rice Krispies. They mailed out a coupon for a Free box and 4 $1 off coupons. I bought 2 boxes that are 2/$5 less my free coupon and 1 - $1 coupon so my oop was $1.59 after tax. I got a $2 RR!
Cheez-It's, Sandies - 4/$10 - get $5 RR - if you printed the coupons.com coupons for the Sandies a few weeks back, use them here. The Cheez-It's one is still on there.
Chinet paper plates - BOGO - use 2 coupons from 6/28SS
Scotch tape - 2/$1 - use $1/3 from 7/12
Scotch Mailers are also on sale again but for $.79 this time - they were $.39 before so if you need them, get them and use the coupon, if not - not a wonderful price.
There will be a special 4 day sale from 8/26-8/29 - nothing too exciting in the ad but there will be a $5 off of $25 coupon in there so that might be worth waiting for if you are going to spend over $25.

On 8/31 there will be a 15% friends and family discount - the last one was open to everyone so hopefully this one is too. I will keep you posted.

Target

Great trip at Target this morning! There are some good Target coupons to match up manufacturer's coupons with. Go to http://www.target.com/ and you can print them up. If you don't have the previous coupons or need more, go to http://www.organicgrocerydeals.com/ and they have a Target coupon generator. These are the current Target coupons and the ones that are no longer on the Target site but not expired yet.
Here is what I got today:

3 Skittles Crazy Cores - $.69 ea - used 3 - $1 Target coupons (on generator only) = $.93 overage! Usually the Target coupons adjust to the price of the item but for some reason, it took off $1 ea.
1 Bounce dryer bar (2 month) - $3.79 - used $1.50 Target coupon and $2.50 mfg. coupon that was mailed to me from Vocalpoint (more on that later) = .21 overage!
3 Artisan breads (single small loaves) - $.99 each - used 3 - $1 Target coupons = free - these adjusted to .99 each
3 Lucky Charms individual cereal cups - $1 each - used 3 Target $1 off any GM cereal coupons = free

1.61 lbs. bananas - $.93 - used $.50 off Target coupon (on generator only) = $.43
2 Pop Tarts - 1.46 each - used $1/2 mfg coupon from 8/2 Fuel for School insert and 2-$.75 Target coupons = .21 each
5 Quaker True Delights granola bars-$2.74 each - used 5-$1 coupons from 8/23RP (also $1 on smartsource.com)=$8.70 but I received $5 Target gift card for buying 5
1 Chef Michaels dry dog food - $4.49 - used $3 mfg. coupon from 8/23RP and 1 $1.50 Target coupon = should be .01 overage
2 Chef Michaels canned dog food - $.89 each - used BOGO coupon from 8/23RP and BOGO coupon = free - actually overage - something really weird happened here! On the receipt it does not show the mfg. coupon for .89 being taken off but it shows a mfg. coupon for $4.49 taken off so it gave me the big bag of dog food free for that coupon and still took off $1.50 Target coupon - Target's receipts are hard to read sometimes but this is what I can figure out. I did not see this at the store (the $4.49 taken off) and have no idea why it would do that! Weird!
4 Chef Michaels small food pouches - .50 each - used 4 free coupons 8/23RP = free
2 Cottonelle wipes - $2.69 each - used 1 BOGO coupon 8/23SS and 1 $1 Target coupon from 6/7SS = $1.69 for both
1 bag Ruffles - $2.50
1 Tic-Tac - .99

My oop (out of pocket) was $10.82 after tax and I received the $5 gift card! I usually will just separate the items and use the GC right away on a second transaction but I didn't - too lazy today I guess! :-)

Gold n Plump chicken is on sale for $3.59/lb - there are $1 coupons on coupons.com (don't enter a zip code) or you can print a .75 coupon at http://www.goldnplump.com/coupon.cfm?page=Grill&cid=1234 I forgot to print this to bring with me so I didn't get any. I will be going back though - this is really good chicken (I try to buy organic or free range chicken most of the time) and it's a good price for this chicken!

Check the endcaps when you go to Target - they had a TON of stuff on clearance - a few things I saw were Jalepeno Cheddar Tortilla Combos -$1.25 (use the $1 Target coupon on the generator)
Orbitz, Trident, other gum too - $.52
Solo Cups - $2.11 - there were coupons a couple of weeks ago on coupons.com or smartsource.com so if you printed those - this is a good one to use it on

Vocal Point http://vocalpoint.com/index.html - go to this site if you haven't signed up with them yet and do so now! This is a great site and they send you free items (razors, cereal, etc) plus GREAT coupons! They do not send a ton of junk email - I get one every few weeks and that's it. It is free and you will not be sorry!

Happy Shopping!

Nestle water

****Edit 8/25****
I went to Jewel last night to get these and they are no longer BOGO! It must have only gone through Sunday or something. This is why I don't like to post things that I only read about and don't actually try! I am sorry! :-(

I read that Jewel has Nestle Pure Life fruit flavored water on sale - BOGO for $3.49. Check your Jewel Avenu discounts at https://avenu.jewelosco.com/groceries/EntryPage and see if you have $1.50 off (limit 2) discount. If you do, you could buy 2 of these, it would automatically take off $3.00 so you would pay .49 for both packages. You have to use the card that the discount is on for your transaction. Mine does not have it but my husbands does so I will use his for my shopping later. :-)

Sunday, August 23, 2009

What a crazy busy week I had - it was very full with the High School band stuff and I was not home much at all! Well, camp is over and the band performed at Great America yesterday. I have not even gone on Jill Cataldo's site for 2 days! GASP - I know!

Sorry it has been so quiet on here but now it's back to Jewel shopping! :-)

Hopefully you have gotten out there to do some shopping for the Box Tops deal going on. This is the same deal I posted before but now it's in the ad. I myself might be skipping this one because there isn't anything on there that I really need. Though I would really like to get the bonus Box Tops. Hmmmmmmmmmmm

Here are the good deals and coupon match-ups that I have found for Thursday's ad.

Strawberries - $1.50/lb

Fresh Express salad, coleslaw, shreds, $1.00.

Ice Mountain Water $.87/six pack of .5 liter bottles. These probably sold out very fast but you can get a rain check for them! Nestea 12 packs - B2G1

Nabisco Munch packs - Buy 2 and get a free Capri Sun - you can get 2 Capri Sun and use the $2 tearpad coupon out there.

Orville Redenbacher's popcorn - BOGO - 8/2SS

Snyders pretzels - $2.50- 7/26SS

Beauty deal - my friend Phyllis told me about this one - I didn't even see it in the ad! It's there but does not stand out! When you buy $20 of Tresemme or Nexxus or St. Ives products shown, you will get a $10 cat. Now, remember, Osco products work on the Preferred price! So, she bought 7 St. Ives products for $21 and got a $10 cat. She then used that cat to buy 2 packages of Scotts products, paid $6 oop and got the $5 Box Tops cat plus the 50 bonus Box Tops. Good job Phil! :-)

L'Oreal Infallible lip products are BOGO - print 2 $2 off coupons at Coupons.com and you can use both coupons to get $4 off the lipstick!

Jewel’s Avenu has Dannon Light & Fit on it again - $.50/3 – it’s 10/$5 right now and there are coupons in 6/21SS and 8/16SS. At our store there was a blinkie coupon for one free when you buy 6 too. Avenu says limit 6 per visit but this is 6 of each flavor! So, you could buy more and get them down to about $.20 each if you use the mfg. coupon and the blinkie coupon!

Kraft Pizza Recall

Kraft has a recall on some pizzas. Here is some of the info from the USDA site. To read the full report, go to http://www.fsis.usda.gov/News_&_Events/Recall_044_2009_Release/index.asp

WASHINGTON, Aug. 17, 2009 - Kraft Foods Global, Inc., a Medford, Wis., establishment, is recalling approximately 8,000 pounds of frozen pepperoni and sausage pizza products because they may contain an undeclared allergen, soy protein concentrate, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.

17.2-ounce packages of "KRAFT, JACK'S Original, SAUSAGE & PEPPERONI PIZZA, MADE WITH PORK, CHICKEN & BEEF," which may bear a "TOMBSTONE ORIGINAL 12 PEPPERONI PIZZA" label on the back of the product. Any products bearing a "JACK'S" back label are not subject to the recall.

The frozen pepperoni and sausage pizza products are packaged on a cardboard disc and wrapped in clear plastic. These packages bear the product number "7192100519," a Julian lot code number "09320," and the USDA mark of inspection, with establishment number "EST. 2461" ink-jetted on a white paper label on the back of the product.

I wanted to tell you about a great deal my friend Glenda told me about today at JC Penney. Here is the link to a $15 off of $75 and a $10 off of $50 coupon. She ended up getting $280 for $120!

http://f.chtah.com/i/2/95827765/main_20090819.html

I had also received a $10 off of $10 in the mail a couple of weeks ago so I will be using that too.

Jewel

I just made a last run to Jewel before going to the school again. I did two transactions and it worked out well!

1st Transaction

4 Kraft Shredded cheese - sale price $2.99 - preferred price $1.69
4 Kraft Singles - sale price $3.39 - preferred price $2.49

The "sale" price was $25.52 but my preferred price was $16.72. I used 4-$1 coupons (8/19RP) and paid $12.93 and received a $5 cat for the Kraft deal.

2nd Transaction

2 Philly Cream Cheese - sale price $2.69 - preferred price $1.69 - used $1 coupon 8/19RP
2 Chips Ahoy - sale price $4.45 - preferred price $2.50
2 Capri Sun - sale price 2.19 - preferred price $1.99
I used 2 tearpad coupons I found a while ago for $2 off when you buy 1 each Capri Sun and Chips Ahoy
2 Kraft brick cheese - sale price - 2.99 - preferred price $1.69 - used $1 coupon 8/19RP
This brings my "sale" price to $24.64 so I could have just added 1 $1 item to get to the $25 but I added
3 Mac n cheese singles - sale price $1.08 - preferred price $1.00 so that I could use my .55 tearpad coupon and 1 Jewel buy 2 get one free coupon that was by the display since Alex and his friends will eat these anyway.
That is it for the Kraft deal - I am done! :-)
I did come across a couple of other good deals though -
The pork chops, ribs or roasts are on sale BOGO so I bought 2 packages of boneless ribs (one was $11.53 and the other $11.45) but on each package was a $1 off coupon so I got both for $9.53.

Sara Lee bread is on sale BOGO for $3.29 which is still kind of high since I get these at the Holsum Outlet for .50 each. I bought these though because there are tearpad coupons for a free bag of Sara Lee mini bagels when you buy 1 bread. Well, since you are "buying" 2 breads with the BOGO deal, you can get 2 packages of mini bagels for free using 2 coupons!

All in all, I bought $76.59 in groceries (produce, deli, etc) in this transaction and after coupons owed $43.47. I used $39.50 in catalinas I had from the $30/$15 deal last week and paid $3.97 out of pocket! I received another $5 cat for the Kraft deal!

Good day at Jewel! The ad starting tomorrow looks good too! Hopefully I can gather up info for that after band camp tonight and write it up in the morning.

Happy Shopping!

Walgreens

I received an email this morning that Walgreen's is having a sale starting today. Spend $25 and get a $5 RR. This runs from Wed. - Sat. The $25 should be pre-coupon by the way the ad reads! :-)

Here is the link to my local ad.

Danimals

If you bought the Danimals at Meijer (or plan to in the next couple of days) - you can send in your receipts with this rebate for some more coupons. The original post about this is below on Aug. 13th.

http://www.dannonomics.com/pdf/O7073_Dannonomics_Rebate.pdf

Walgreens RR's

Learn from my mistakes! I had several Walgreen's RR's and knew that one of them was expiring this week. It's a $10 one so I am going to use it to buy some ink for my printer. Well, I go and check it this morning and it expired yesterday! As you can imagine, I was not happy with myself! I went and thought maybe they would take it since it was just one day. NOPE! They said they can not take any expired coupons. Well, I am not going to let $10 go to waste (even if it was my fault), so I went to Dominick's because I know they take expired coupons as well as competitor's catalinas. No problem, they took it! Whew!

Since I was not planning on going to Dominick's I was not prepared with coupons for any of the deals they have going on there. I bought some chicken and then I bought some BC Fruit Snacks they have on sale with an in-ad coupon 4/$4 (must buy 4) for my niece. We were at Jewel the other day and she wanted the My Little Pony kind but we didn't know if those were part of the $30/$15 deal so we had her pick a different kind. Well, now she has 3 boxes! :-) These were $4 then I had an e-coupon from cellfire.com or shortcuts.com that came off for .40 and then I received a $2.50 cat for buying 4 fruit snacks! So, even without coupons, these came out to about .28 a box! That's cheap! I may go back and roll the cat with some coupons before the sale ends tomorrow. The cat deal goes through 9/6 so there is time for that but the 4/$4 is good only through 8/19.

Printable Coupons

Here are a few IP's (internet printables) I found on Hotcouponworld.com. Print them now as some of these printable coupons go very quickly!

Sign up with Smithfield and you can print a $3 off Smithfield bacon coupon. http://www.smithfield.com/

$1 off Hefty garbage bags which are part of the Box Tops cat deal at Jewel and $1.50/2 Mini Wheats which might be part of the Kellogg’s/ConAgra deal at Jewel next week so print it now. http://www.redplum.com/

There is a $1 off Kraft Natural cheese at ***************. It does say redeem at Publix but it is a Manufacturer’s coupon so you can use it anywhere. Nice for the Kraft deal at Jewel! I just printed this (I was out of ink earlier) and it does say retailer coupon on top so unfortunatly, we will not be able to use this at Jewel! :-(

There is a $1 coupon on any Edward’s Singles Dessert at the following link: http://bricks.coupons.com/Start.asp?tqnm=qhfiajg22417122&bt=vi&o=58031&c=EB&p=bumr2UlI
These go on sale BOGO at Jewel fairly often!

Walmart has a new site called Lunchbox Builder - http://www.lunchboxbuilder.com/
There are some $1 coupons on there for Mott’s applesauce, Goldfish crackers and Smucker’s Uncrustables.
At the end of July I sent an email to friends about this so it's a reminder to those of you who have not tried it and it will be new for some of you. At that time, I did not have a number (now with all the cereal we have from the $30/$15 deal, you may have one now!) so I tried it with the number they provided. I got an email saying that they will verify my info and mail it to me. The $5 check arrived in the mail about 2 weeks later!

Here is a chance to win $5 from General Mills Honey Nut Cheerios. You can play up to 10 times each day. Go to this link -
http://generalmills.eprize.net/nuts/index.tbapp?affiliate_id=1b

Keep trying! It did take several times and was going to give up then I won. Maybe have the kids do it. :-)

Tombstone Pizza and Jewel

With school is starting next week so this is a perfect time to stock up on some quick and easy things to make for dinner in the freezer for those crazy nights!

Tombstone pizza is on sale at Jewel $3.65, which I would normally say is not a great price but with the double dip Catalina deals, it turns out to be! I wanted to test it out before I posted here so I ran into the Jewel on my way home. I bought 7 pizzas (garlic bread pizza, cheese, pepperoni). I paid $25.87 including tax and received a $5 cat from Kraft along with a $20 mail in rebate form. I also received a $5 cat from Tombstone for purchasing more than 6 pizzas!
For the Tombstone deal, you will get a $3 cat for buying 4 pizzas, a $4 cat for buying 5 pizzas and a $5 cat for buying 6 or more pizzas.

I have already purchased some other things to do the Kraft rebate so I will not be mailing it in - if you haven't done it already though, you could and this would be a money maker! Since I will not be doing it, I will end up paying about $2.15 per pizza which is a good stock up price!
Now, I will use those UPC's for the Tombstone Utility rebate - http://www.kraftfoods.com/SiteCollectionImages/ImageRepository/7/TombstoneFlyer.pdf

I can send in the 7 UPC labels (they do not require an original receipt so you can use that for the Kraft rebate which does not require the UPC labels!) and get a $5 credit on any utility bill I choose. That makes my pizzas $1.43 each! Much better. :-)

I also got a Catalina announcing a spend $25 get $10 Kellogg's/ConAgra deal coming up on 8/24 so keep checking back for details on that deal!

Kmart Doubles

Kmart is offing double coupon days this week! They double coupons up to $2.00 so you can get many things for free.

I personally have never taken advantage of this amazing deal Kmart offers because I do not have a Kmart that is very close to me. Since none of the stores in the Chicagoland area doubles coupons, this is a great opportunity. If you are going to do this, I suggest going early in the week as I have read that the shelves clear pretty quickly. Kmart does limit the number of coupons you are able to use and you must have a minimum of $25 pre-coupon total.

The Abundant Food Savings has a good post on this deal:

Jewel - Kraft Free Groceries

I got this complete list of items included in the Kraft free groceries deal at Jewel this week from http://www.hotcouponworld.com/. Not all items are in the ad and may not be on sale. The deal goes through 8/23 but this current ad only goes through 8/19 so there may be more items included in Sunday’s ad.

For this deal, you will be able to get the $5 cat to print (along with the rebate cat) if you use the “sale” prices but to be certain to not have your rebate rejected by Kraft, I suggest purchasing $25 in products using Preferred prices and then lower your out of pocket by using coupons. You will still get the $5 and your receipt will show $25 spent before coupons so your rebate will be honored for sure.

There is one rebate per household so if you want to do one transaction using Preferred prices to get to the $25 and send that in, then do other transactions using the “sale” price in order to get the $5 cat, that is fine! There are several things in this deal we need (cheese!) so I will probably do this to get them for less oop.

The other thing that will work GREAT with this deal is the Tombstone pizza – it is not shown on sale in this ad so you may want to wait for Sunday – I am hoping it will go on sale. There is another cat deal for the Tombstone pizza from 8/14-9/6. Buy 4, get $3 OYNO, buy 5, get $4.00 OYNO or buy 6 or more and get $5.00 OYNO. This will be a great double dip! I assume you need the original receipt or UPC's for the rebate but if not, you could actually use the same transaction for the Tombstone utility rebate at: http://www.kraftfoods.com/SiteCollectionImages/ImageRepository/7/TombstoneFlyer.pdf

There are a few coupon matchups for this but I will have to refer you to http://www.coupontom.com/ for those because I have not had time to write them down or clip them yet. If you have found the Kraft Back to School booklet, there are coupons in there that you can use as well as a few tearpad coupons around. I found one at Target yesterday that would work with this deal by the crackers for $2 off Capri Sun and Nabisco multipacks. Another good one is the BOGO coupon from 8/9SS.

Meijer & Danimals

Head on over to Meijer! Dannon Danimals Crush cups are on sale for $2. On Meijer's Mealbox -http://www.meijermealbox.com/ , there is a $1 coupon off any Danimals cups or drinks. There is also a $1 mfg. coupon in 7/26SS & 8/9SS. Stack these together (you can use a store coupon and a mfg. coupon together) and these are FREE!!! I just went and got 3 Danimals yogurts, 2 gallons of milk (1.98 ea), 1 pkg croissants (1.79), 2 veggie dips (.89 ea) and 1 sports tape (3.99) and paid $3.00 out of pocket! I used 2 free milk coupons from the cereal deal last week and again got overage as the milk coupons scanned for $4.50 each! Print those Mealbox coupons soon because sometimes they change them.

Free Calendar with coupons

I just saw on www.mashupmom.com that Nestle has a sign up for a calendar from Nestle with $20 of coupons! Go to http://instoresnow.walmart.com/enhancedrendercontent_ektid75438.aspx and sign up!

Target/Walgreens/Jewel

Ran to Target, Walgreens and Jewel with my sister-in-law today. She wanted me to show her the ropes and she couldn't believe everything she got today. I think I have recruited a new couponer! :-)

Here's are the good deals I ended up with today:

Target -

4-Combos (7oz) - $1.50 each -printed 4 $1 off coupons from www.target.com so they were only .50 each!

2-Pop Tarts - $1.52 each -used 2-.55 IP coupons I printed last week (no longer available - I hope you printed them!) and 2-.75 Target coupons from http://www.organicgrocerydeals.com/ (go to the Target coupon generator - this is where Target coupons are available after they are off the website but not expired yet) so these were .22 each!

1 lb. apples (2 apples) - 1.39 less $1 off 1lb or more apples printed from Target's website - available on http://www.organicgrocerydeals.com/ now - so these were only .39!

2 Bic mechanical pencils packs - $1.24 ea - used $1/2 Bic IP printed a few weeks ago and $1/2 Bic products Target coupon available on http://www.organicgrocerydeals.com/ now - so these were $.24 each!

Then we went to Walgreen's:

1 Colgate -$2.99 - used $1 coupon from 7/12SS

2 Listerine and 1 Reach toothbrush 2-pack -3/$9.00 - used $1 and $3 coupons from 8/2SS.

This was a money maker! My oop (out of pocket) was $7.33 and I received a $3 RR for the toothpaste and a $6 RR for the Listerine deal. There is a $5 off 3 coupon in the same insert you can use on the deal too - just buy 1 Listerine, 1 Reach Floss and 1 2-pk toothbrush. If you use this, you make an extra $1 but I used mine Monday so that is why I used these today. Even if you only get 1 coupon insert, this is where you can still make money doing this deal twice! :-)

Then we went to Jewel:

I "bought" 2 IBC cream soda 6-pks, 1 Gardetto mix and 4 boxes of Popsicles. I did not have coupons. My total after tax was $22.91 - I used $20 in cats, paid $2.91 cash and got $15 back. So for all of that really, I paid $7.91!! My son will be so happy!

Oh, and the $4 off of 5 Breyer's, Klondike or Popsicle cat is printing again! I got another one so if you are going to do these again - don't forget to use that! :-)

Although the ad states that the deal goes through today - the 12th, the tags that I saw in the store say the 16th so if this is true - there are a few more days with the deal! I hope so because we just got a cat today advertising a Nature Valley cat deal starting on the 14th and that would be a double dip! We would get up to an additional $3.50. Here is what the cat says: Buy any 3, get $1.50 or buy 4, get $2.50 or buy 5 or more and get $3.50 off your next order! I'll keep you posted.

Happy Shopping!

Just when I think I am done.........

I FINALLY found the All laundry soap! Alex and I stopped at a couple of Jewel's on our way back from Glen Ellyn yesterday (well, he really had no choice) to see if we could find the soap and we did - yay! I found the soap and the Organic Bertolli sauce that my Jewel has been out of for over a week so I figured I am DONE - no more! Well, I stopped by my friend Kim's house to share a few jars of pasta sauce with her and she mentions that she bought the Popsicles that were part of the deal. I realized that I forgot those were part of the $30/$15 deal! Alex had wanted me to buy them two weeks ago and I said, "oh they will be part of the deal - I will get them next week". Well, I forgot and I guess so did he so I will be going to do my LAST round at Jewel with Popsicles and IBC root beer (another one of his favs) today. :-)

I'm going over the ads for tomorrow now - will post the deals I find later today.

Kraft deal at Jewel

Besides the $30/$15 deal at Jewel, there is also a Kraft deal going on! It is free food after the $20 rebate. I don't do them often but I will for a $20 one! Now, this runs on what you actually pay for so you have to use PREFERRED PRICES for this to work. Spend $25 and you will get a $5 cat and a cat with the rebate at the register to send with your receipt for the $20 rebate. Now you can use coupons to reduce your $25 so you can make this a money maker!

Jill Cataldo has the deal written up very well on her site so I am going to direct you there. If you have not ever gone to her site - you must! She absolutely has the best site out there for local couponing! Here is the link:

http://www.magnetic-media.com/jill/node/4657

Completely Exhausted from Jewel!

Yesterday I went to my sisters for lunch and then I was going to take her to her Jewel to get a few deals in. Well, I guess I could say that I think I have FINALLY convinced her that she is nuts if she does not take advantage of shopping this way! She ended up wanting to hit the 3 Jewel’s by her and getting $565.38 worth of stuff for $17.08!!! Her actual out of pocket was $47.08 for everything and she still has $30 in cats in her wallet! All in all, she did 10 transactions and I will list them here but am not going to go into detail as far as what coupons she used. I can just tell you that she only had 1 set of inserts and I did share a few coupons with her. I believe it was around 8 or 9 coupons that I gave her. Also when she bought cereals in a transaction, it would give her a $1.50 or $2.00 coupon on her next cereal purchase so she just kept rolling those and ended up with a ton of cereal! Here are her transactions:

Transaction #1
5 Breyer’s ice cream, 11 Chex Mix Selects
Sale price – $64.04 – used $4.50 in coupons & $15 in cats – oop was $14.17 – got $30 in cats

Sale price – $62.89 plus $22.18 for the ice cream and brownies – used $19.38 in coupons (9.98 for the BOGO coupons) & $30 in cats – oop was $1.16 – got $30 in cats

Sale price – $31.68 plus $8.00 for school supplies – used no coupons & $25 in cats – oop was $.54 – got $15 in cats
** we did this as a single transaction because for some reason, this store had a really high “sale” amount on the Cheerios snack mix and we were not sure it was right (even though we scanned at the price checker).

Transaction #8
9 Reeses Puffs cereal, 1 Cookie Crisp, 14 Lipton sides (regular ones), 3 Knorr Pasta sides with veggies
Sale price – $61.66 – used $7.00 in coupons & $20 in cats – oop was $10.65 – got $30 in cats

Call me crazy.............

Call me crazy but I ran to the other Jewel tonight on the search for the All detergent (I was able to print some more coupons from their website) which my Jewel was out of. So, I grabbed my coupons and Alex and I took off. We did 3 transactions and ended up making money again! I LOVE when that happens!

Transaction #1:
8 Pillsbury refrigerated cookie dough - $20.00 (sale price $29.20)
1 Bugles - $1.67 (sale price - $2.57)
1 bag of salad - $2.00
Total was $23.97 less $4.00 in coupons and $15.00 in cats - $4.97 oop (out of pocket) and received $15.00 in cats.

Transaction #2:
4 Chex Mix Selects – $6.67 (sale price $12.67) *Selects have a higher "sale" price than regular*
8 Chex Mix regular - $13.33 (sale price $20.54)
Total was $20.36 less $3.00 in coupons and $15 in cats - $2.36 oop and received $15 in cats.

Transaction #3:
10 yogurts (5 YoPlus & 5 Fiber One) - $20.00 (sale price $32.50)
3 Green Giant frozen corn - $5.00 (sale price $6.80)
8 Knorr Pasta Sides with Veggies - $8.00 (sale price 21.60) *see comment below
1 Knorr Pasta sides - $1.00 (sale price $1.60)
Total was $34.60 less $10.00 in coupons and $20 in cats - $4.60 oop and received $30 in cats.

The third transaction is where I made the money! Even if I would not have used any previous Catalina coupons, I would have paid $24.60 (after tax and coupons) and gotten the $30 in cats! All of the coupons were from inserts (mostly today’s). I 4 bought extra copies today which cost me $4 at Menards but I more than made up for that with just 1 transaction!

*The Knorr Pasta sides with Veggies are a real money maker! The “sale” price for those is $2.70 each (at my store – make sure you scan at your store to check the price!) and the preferred price is $1.00. If you can find 11 of them and have 3 $1/3 coupons from 8/2RP – you will pay $8.00 and get back $15!!!! The problem is finding that many at one time. Even if you will not eat these, buy them - use the overage for your produce, meat, whatever and donate them to the food pantry!

I swear I am done for today – there’s always tomorrow! ;-)

Happy shopping everyone!

One more Jewel trip..............

Doug and I went to Jewel again today. The Fiber One and YoPlus yogurts are on sale starting today for $2 each instead of the $2.50 preferred price that they have been during this $30/$15 deal, that’s less out of pocket for us!

Now, remember you are using “sale” prices to get to your $30. This is the price that the item rings up at before the preferred savings is taken off. Do not use the “shelf” price – this is not always the same as the “sale” price. There are 3 prices for items at Jewel – shelf price is the price the shelf tag regularly says, sale price is the discounted price you would pay if you did not use a preferred card and preferred price is the price you pay when you do use your preferred card.

I must also state it again that if you want to work the deal this way, you are doing so at your own risk! You cannot go to Customer Service and complain because you are going against what the ad states. It works but it is a risk that you have to be willing to take and not get your Catalina coupons. If it doesn’t work out and you want to return the items, please do so right away – before leaving the store. If you leave and return them, the store must throw it away!

Here’s what we ended up getting on our trip today:

4 Fiber One Yogurts – $8.00 (sale price $13.00) - 2-$1 coupons in 8/8 GM insert & 2 -$1.25 internet coupons from
http://bricks.coupons.com/bstart.asp?o=57661&ci=1&c=GM&p=B7kMwQiq
3 YoPlus yogurts - $6.00 (sale price $9.75) - 3-$.50 coupons in 8/8 GM insert
2 Gardetto’s - $3.33 (sale price $5.73) – NO COUPONS
2 Chocolate Turtle Chex Mix - $3.33 (sale price $5.73) – 2 -$.50 coupons from coupons.com
2 Trail Mix Chex Mix - $3.33 (sale price $5.73) – 2-$.50 internet coupons from coupons.com
3 Betty Crocker Cookie pouches - $5.00 (sale price $6.51) – 3-$.40 coupons in 8/8 GM
2 Snapple 6pks - $10.00 (sale price $13.90) – 2-$1 internet coupons from http://coupons.smartsource.com/web/index.aspx?Link=HN5AQVPNACWBU

At this point I was at $60.35 which would have worked but I wanted to be sure – just in case any price comes up differently at the register – call me chicken but I threw in a Betty Crocker Warm Delights Mini for $1.67 (sale price $2.37) just to be safe! I also had a .50 coupon from today’s GM insert.

So, now my sale price total is $62.72
Preferred price is $38.99
My coupons ($11.70)
Total out of pocket (oop) is $27.29 and I received $30 back in Catalina coupons! They just paid me $2.71 to take all of this stuff out of the store!

Meijer

The cereal cup deal is still going on at Meijer! (If you don't know what I am talking about, look at the post from August 5th.) The General Mills cereal cups are still $1 each. They are no longer giving the $2 off your next purchase cat but the free gallon of milk one is still printing. I tested it a couple of times yesterday and the best way to work it now that the $2 cat is no longer in the deal is to buy in sets of 3. For every 3 you buy, you get a free milk catalina coupon. I did a transaction with 6 to see if I would get 2 cats and yes, I did! In today's GM insert there is a $1/3 coupon that you can use. When getting my cereal yesterday, I bought milk and used the free milk cat from before. Well, milk is on sale for $1.98 and when the cashier scanned the coupon, it went through for $4.50 (the max. value of the coupon) so I got major overage! Yay! This is going to depend on your cashier - some may look for the actual price of the milk and enter that amount - you are entitled only to the price of the milk and overage is a bonus! It doesn't always happen but it's nice when it does - since I bought 2 gallons of milk and used 2 coupons, it paid for the few other things I had in the transaction. They get reimbursed for whatever price the coupon goes through with so Meijer will get the $4.50 that GM is willing to pay for the milk but you can't expect the overage. Also, it's better to go to a cashier with these - the self check-out locks up and an attendant has to come and verify the coupon. We waited a AT LEAST 5 minutes at the self check-out and finally just took our items to a regular cashier - which worked out better because I got the overage! :-)

Another trip to Jewel

One more trip to Jewel today - this is a regular one while Alex is at lessons, I go to Jewel to pass the time! :-)

Here's what I got:

5 Bertolli Organic pasta sauce - $10.00 ("sale" price $4.45 each)
2 Macaroni Grill dinner kits - $7.00 ("sale" price $5.75 each)
5 Breyer's ice cream (these are not for me- they are for my friend in Wisconsin that doesn't have a Jewel by her!) - $15.00 ("sale" price $32.50)
1 pkg Crisco sticks - 3.79 (ouch)

So, my total before coupons is $36.24 including tax
less coupons -
2 - $1.10 for Macaroni Grill kits - ($2.20) - these were from coupons.com
1 - $4.00 off Breyer's cat coupon - ($4.00)
So, now I'm at $30.04 and will get $30 in cats back! This includes my Crisco that basically I got for free with the ice cream coupon.

I did use $15 in catalina coupons I earned before on this transaction so my oop was $15.04 and I got $30 back in cats that I will probably just keep rolling....................

A friend of mine had a problem today with one of her cat deals not working so I thought I would put out a reminder so that maybe it keeps it from happening to someone else.
For the items on the Jewel side, you can use the "sale" price - not shelf (sometimes it's the same but lots of times it is not). For the Osco side products - you will use the preferred price only. To further confuse things, with this deal for some reason the 500 count (not the 300 or 375 count) Q-tips are coded so that you CAN use the "sale" price. This also applies to the Dove shampoo, conditioner and some of the Vaseline lotions.

Happy Shopping!

Jewel

I wasn't going to go to Jewel today but somehow I ended up there! I went to get pizza toppings because the kids had friends over and we were going to make pizzas. Well, on Friday they have these huge take and bake pizzas for $6.00 by the deli/bakeshop so I got a few of those. They were really good! I recommend getting them - $6 is a steal!

Finally! The store had the 500 count Q-tips! Yay! I bought 8 of them for $23.92 and received the double dip catalinas of $27.00 so I made $3.08 on them. Since I messed up the other day with the 375 count, I guess I could count them as all costing me $1.20 pack. That makes me feel better about paying $26 for the Q-tips the other day.

As an FYI, there will be a new Kraft catalina sale that started today. It goes from 8/7-8/23. Purchase $25 in participating products and you will get a $5 catalina coupon and a $20 rebate form will also print. All purchases must be made in a single transaction.
Here is the link with the details and products listed: http://www.kraftfoods.com/SiteCollectionImages/ImageRepository/BTS/ShoppingList.pdf

Since I was at Jewel and had some extra time, I decided to grab a sales ad and get the "sale" prices on some of the $30/$15 deal. Now, remember these are for store I shop at and you need to scan your items at the price checker to be sure of the prices at your store - it would stink to miss out on your cats because you are a few cents off but it has happened because a different store will price something 5 cents cheaper.

Here are the prices I gathered - If there is no price, it means I didn't get it. If you know the price, let me know and I will update the list.

3/$5 section

GM cereal - prices vary so scan
Shedd's spread -
BC Brownie mix - $2.95
BC Muffin mix - $3.25

Q-tips - the ad says 300 or 375 pack - if you buy these - use the preferred $2.50 price. The 500 count works and the sale price is $3.99 and the preferred price $2.99. Again since these are Osco items, they should work on the preferred price but for some reason they are working on the sale price.

Jewel

Another trip to Jewel today..........

I took my sister on a little shopping "field trip" and she was very happy! She got:
10 boxes of HN Cheerios (S. Elgin was fully stocked with these!) $32.90 sale price/$20 preferred
5 Breyer's ice cream (store was also very well stocked on these) -$32.50 sale/$15 preferred
I had given her my $4 off 5 Breyer's so it cost her $31 and she received $30 back in cats! She did risk it and did two deals in one transaction but it worked out great.
Then she did her second transaction which included:
5 Organic Bertolli pasta sauces - sale price $4.45 ea/pref - $2.00
4 Ragu pasta sauces - sale price $1.97 ea/pref price 3/$5
$30.23 sale price
$16.66 preferred price less 2 - $1 coupons (Ragu from 8/2RP) so $14.66 - received $15 in cats. On that same transaction, she bought:
1 Tide detergent - $14.49 sale/$10.99 preferred
1 Bounce stick - $8.99 sale/$7.99 preferred
$23.48 sale price
$18.98 preferred price less $2 in coupons from 8/2PG so $16.98 - received a $5 catalina.
All in all it was a good shopping trip!

I hope you guys are doing well on this deal. Some of the items are completely out like the All detergent, Q-tips and lots of the Dove products but there are still lots of items and coupons to match up to them to make the items in this deal really, really cheap!

Meijer

Good deal at Meijer!

They are running a Catalina deal where you get 1 free gallon of milk cat when you buy 3 General Mills cereal, if you buy 6, you will get 2 free gallons. But the best part is that they also have a cat deal where you get a $2 cat on your next order when you buy 4 GM cereals. Well, it is working on the individual cups of cereal that are $1 each! So, buy 4 cups of cereal (Kellogg's is on sale for $1 too so don't mix them up) and you will get 1 cat for a free gallon of milk and a $2 cat! Make it even better by using coupons. There are printables on coupons.com or $1/3 in the 6/28SS or $1/2 in the 7/19SS. So, you will pay $3 for the cereal if you use the $1/3 coupon and get back $2 plus the free milk. Roll that into the next transaction and pay $1 and you will again get the $2 and milk cats. Keep rolling them until you are out of coupons, using your $2 cat each time and your oop (out of pocket) will be super cheap and you will get free milk! You don't have to buy the milk now, the cats are good until 8/19 so you have plenty of time to get your milk. I just did this at the self check out 5 times in a row! :-)

This cat deal runs until 8/8 but I don't know how long the cereal is on sale for $1 though so if it's at all possible, do it tonight!

Jewel

Well, I tried and failed yesterday at Jewel! See, it happens to everyone....................

I wanted the Q-tips, so I stopped at the Bartlett Jewel after dinner at Pasta Mia. They did not have any of the 500 count but had a lot of the 375 count so I scanned one at the price checker and it came up $2.99 - sale price $2.50. I figured out that I would have to get 11 to be over $30 but I will get back $27 so that's ok. Well, it didn't work! They scanned at the register at $2.50 not $2.99 less preferred savings...... like usual. I ended up getting a $7 cat but they cost $29 so not a good deal! It was my fault because I had Doug do that transaction while I went to the Redbox with the kids. I didn't tell him they were supposed to ring up at $2.99 or that I was expecting $27 in cats so he had no clue. When it didn't work out, I thought "oh well, something went wrong" and we left. I did not want to go to customer service because I was using the "sale" price and not the ad price. It was when we were in the car that I noticed that the price rang up at $2.50 and not the normal way! Live and learn I guess. I have heard that the 300 and 375 count are really messing people up so if at all possible - stick with the 500 count!

I did buy 5 more Breyer ice cream though (not for us - they ALL were for Mr. Breen!) and paid $11 using my $4 coupon from the day before and got back $15 plus another $4 coupon. Yay! I handed him the ice cream and he wanted to know how much I owed him, I said "Nothing, I just made $4 buying it for you!" He couldn't believe it. Anyone else want ice cream?!?!? :-)

FYI: There are still problems with the All Laundry detergent. Make sure you do not get one that has a UPC starting with a 7. Get only the ones on the list and make sure they are not scanning at $3.49 - you want them to scan at $5.49 before preferred savings!

By the way, dinner at Pasta Mia was great! I am mentioning this because we used a Restaurant.com certificate that I bought with code SUPPER. It was 50% off with that code. So, I paid $5 for a $25 certificate. You have to spend $50 for that one (they do have a $10 certificate that you must spend $20 for also). We got an appetizer, 4 meals 2 drinks (my kids wanted water????) and 2 desserts and including tip (on the $50) paid $36! That was a GREAT meal with LOTS of food for $36! We even have leftovers. Normally we don't get the appetizer or dessert and end up paying over $45 for a nice dinner. Not only did we get the $25 certificate for $5, but when they sent my confirmation email, I also got another one stating that I earned a $10 credit as well! It's a special promotion going on right now. It is on my account and I can use it at whatever restaurant I want! They have lots of good restaurants on there so check them out!

Coupons........

With so many deals this week at Jewel I thought I would write a post about coupons. There are many ways to get coupons. The easiest being the inserts that come in the Sunday paper. In this area, Chicago Tribune has the best coupons - many times there are ones that do not show up in my Daily Herald. You can subscribe to the Tribune for .50/week for Sunday only delivery using this code 09JE at http://www.chicagotribune.com/. I just tried it for our zip code and it still worked. I get 2 papers delivered, one in Doug's name Wed./Fri./Sun. delivery that we have had delivered for years and I just added a subscription in my name for Sunday only. It did take almost 2 months to start getting my second paper delivered but we just kept calling.

Menards and Dollar Tree also have the early edition paper available on Sat. for $1. I will go and get 1 or 2 (depending on the inserts that week) on Saturday.

Now, I usually try to do the coupon match-ups but there are tons this time and I have not had time to sit down and do that so I am going to give you a few resources to use to find your coupons.
I use both http://www.coupontom.com/ and http://www.hotcouponworld.com/ - they both are great. If you sign up with Coupon Tom, you will be able to see expired coupons as well as current coupons. Dominick's takes expired coupons so this comes in handy. When I am matching up my Jewel ad though, I do not sign in because they do not take expired coupons, it makes it a bit easier not having to look at the expiration date as I go along.
Hot Coupon World is an extremely jam-packed site! It takes some time to navigate through it in the beginning but once you get it, it is very valuable! Sign up for an account (it's free) and click on the coupon database. You can search using expired coupons or not. They have TONS of coupons listed - from inserts, hangtags, tearpads, homemailers, etc. The nice thing about this site is that if there is an IP (internet printable) available, you will be able to print it right there!

If there is a product you are wanting to buy, go to the company website. Many times, you will find coupons under a promotions tab.

Here are some links to IP's that would work with the $30/$15 deal at Jewel:

Breyers: http://www.klondikecoupon.com/

All laundry detergent: http://www.all-laundry.com/#/register/

Macaroni Grill dinners: http://print.coupons.com/alink.asp?go=14473wd2910

Honey Nut Cheerios: http://print.coupons.com/alink.asp?go=14473wd2910

Also, go to http://www.coupons.com/, http://www.smartsource.com/, http://www.bettycrocker.com/, http://www.pillsbury.com/ for coupons to use with this $30/$15 deal.

Jewel

Ok, here is (the first of many I am sure) long awaited Jewel post! First, let me tell you that this post is LONG! Second, this sale runs through next week too so we have plenty of time on this one to go back and find something if it's not on the shelf. Second, this can be a VERY confusing week at Jewel. There are several Catalina deals going on so make lists!

Those of you that I have been emailing on a regular basis, know how these catalina deals work at Jewel. I am going to explain them here so that everyone who is new to this understands.

I must first state that if you choose to do the deals this way, you are taking a risk of NOT getting the catalina coupons! If you don't get them, you CAN NOT complain to customer service. Although you are not doing anything wrong, it's the way Catalina and Jewel have set the deal up, you are going against the sales ad and you are doing this at your OWN risk. If it doesn't work out and you don't get your coupons, it could be that you got one item wrong (UPC not part of the deal) or you used the wrong price to reach your total or even that the Catalina system was down or the machine wasn't working (always make sure that the Catalina machine has a solid green light on). You can keep the items (that is what I do, as I took the risk) or you can return the items before you leave the store. If you take food out of the store, they can not return them to the shelves and throw them away. In my opinion, it is not fair for Jewel to lose money for a mistake that you may have made. If you work the deal on preferred prices and do not get your catalina coupons, then you can go to customer service for your coupons.

Although the ads state that you have to spend $xx to get $xx on your next order it does not work that way. The way it is set up is that you must spend that amount in "sale" prices. Jewel has 3 prices on most items. They have the shelf price, the sale price and the preferred price. The price you want to use is the sale price. For example, the All Laundry detergent right now is $6.49 shelf price but is on a price cut for $5.49 and a preferred price of $3.50. The price you would use to get to the $30 is $5.49. So, you would need to buy 6 of them, which will cost you $21.00 (less any coupons) and you will get back $15 (3 - $5 catalina coupons)! Let me stress that it is really important that you scan the items at the price checker - look for it in your store - to be sure of the SALE price. The sale price is the price that the item will ring up at before the preferred discount is taken.

The Unilever/Betty Crocker/GM - Buy $30 get $15 on your next order (goes to 8/12):

Here is the spreadsheet of items included. Make sure you have the right UPC on what you are buying. There have been reports of trouble with some of the All laundry detergent because there are a few on clearance so make sure you scan your items to be sure of the "sale" price. http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=tQxXm0uMiHSZzfd3l-i9-jQ&output=html

Today I purchased 6 All Laundry detergent (he) - 3.50 preferred price = 21.00 less 5- $1 coupons - 8/2RP - so $16 oop (out of pocket) and got $15 in cats! (the sale price total was 32.94)

5 Breyers ice cream - 6.50 sale price/3.00 preferred price so 32.50 sale price qualifies me for the $30 but my preferred is $15.00 less 2.50 in coupons that I had printed weeks ago and I got the $15 cats! So on this one, it's actually a money maker! Well, when I checked out, not only did I get my cats, I also got a cat coupon for $4 off my next purchase of 5 Klondike/Breyer/Popsicle purchase. So, I can buy another 5 Breyers and use the $4 coupon and make money again! Of course, when I say money maker this is after the $15 cats you will receive.

Normally on these deals, you can only do one $30 transaction at a time. I had read that it was working if you did 2 or 3 so I decided to try it. I wouldn't do 3 just in case something happened but I tried 2 (I figured I have saved so much over the months that it would be ok). Well, it worked! I did both my All detergent and the Breyers together and received $30 in catalinas! Don't do this if you are not willing to take the risk! :-)

There are so many other ways that this deal works too. There are hundreds of items and so many coupons out there! Go on coupons.com, smartsource.com, bettycrocker.com and you will find many. This past weeks inserts were loaded with them too. You can mix and match to get to the $30 - you do not have to buy all of the same items. I do mostly to keep things straight and if it is something that I will use. If not, I will mix and match. I will post all of my deals in the next couple of weeks to give you plenty of ideas! During these deals, I find myself at Jewel pretty much everyday (I just can NOT stay away - see I am addicted!) so there will be plenty of scenarios. :-)

Some things that I have heard are definitely working but have not tried myself are the Bertolli pasta sauces, Chex Mix, Honey Nut Cheerios (buy 10 of these for 15.25 and get $15 back! - check prices at your store), Lipton sides, Macaroni Grill meals, Klondike bars. Let me know what works for you and I will post it here.

The Dove/Suave/Vaseline buy $10/save $3 - buy $20/save$7 - buy $30/save $12 goes through 8/5. It has been reported that the Dove shampoo/conditioner, Vaseline lotion and Q-tips are double dipping! This means they are part of 2 deals and you will get both sets of cats! Unfortunately my store was out of Q-tips so I didn't try it. I have so much lotion and hair care products that I didn't want to risk it not working out. I am going to another store tomorrow to see if they have the Q-tips. We'll see...........

Now, these items are on the Osco side and when you buy things from the Osco side, you have to use the Preferred prices! It will not work with the shelf or sale price of the items. Now, to make it all a little more confusing - SOME - of the items are working on the sale price! I know that the Q-tips are and that's why I am going for those but it has been reported that the Dove shampoo and conditioner are too.

Johnson & Johnson products - buy $15 get $5 catalina coupon goes through 8/5. This deal will also work on the preferred prices since the items are on the Osco side.

Procter & Gamble - spend $20 get $5 catalina on your next purchase -through 8/12. This deal will work on the "sale" prices for the Jewel items and the preferred prices for the Osco items. For example you could buy 1 Tide (15.99 sale price) ($1 coupon in 8/2 PG) and one Bounty napkins (4.25 sale price) (.25 coupon in 8/2PG). You will pay 10.99+3.00 less 1.25 in coupons so $12.74 oop and get back $5. Of course, check your sale prices for your store! Last time they had this deal, my store's price for the Tide was $14.99 and not $15.99 like some others.

I also bought 10 Pop Tarts which is this weeks Jewel special and cost 1.50 each but are only $1 when you buy in quantities of 5. I used 5 coupons from 8/2 Fuel for School insert. I paid $5.13 after tax and will turn in the Fuel for School rebate for $10. I don't do rebates too often but this is worth it! I have done one in my mother in laws name so now I have to do this one in Doug's name! I'm running out of people!!! lol I was also able to use 2 Bic coupons (from coupons.com) and get 4 packs of pens free. Since my pre-coupon total was over $100, I used my free gallon of milk coupon (I hope you guys printed those last week!) and also my free 1/2 gallon of Chocolate milk coupon! Free Dean's Over the Moon milk - yay! I got some produce, cheese, some gift sets (on clearance in Osco) and after my coupons and $40 in previous cats, my total was $38.11 ($29 were the gift sets!) and I received $30 in cats to continue rolling into more deals! So, my shopping trip at Jewel went very well today!

Happy Shopping!

Walgreens

First, at the photo counter (you may have to ask - at ours, they were behind the counter) they have these boxes for Photo Stamps. They are on sale for $7.19 each. You put any picture on there you want, upload on the computer and they will print and mail them back to you. I have not done mine yet but have read that even though the box says .42 stamps, you will get .44 stamps! A regular book of 20 stamps at the post office is $8.80 so this is a good deal - works out to .36 per stamp!

There are plenty of coupons out in the 8/2RP for these products but your best bet is the Suave deodorant. They are 25% off and come out to 1.66 each. If you buy 8, that is 13.28, use as many .75 coupons as you have from 5/17RP or 8/2RP and it could become a money maker!
Scotch mailers or envelopes are .59 each. If you haven't used your coupon from 7/26RP (I used mine when they were .39 last week but I think they were $1/2) then use them here and get cheap envelopes.
Buy $15 in Colgate/Softsoap/Irish Spring/Speed Stick products and get $5 RR.
There are coupons on coupons.com (zip code 45435) for the Softsoap on sale for $2 and the Irish Spring on sale for $3.50. If you have access to multiple computers, you can print more than 2. There is a .75 coupon for the Speed Stick in the 7/26SS.
