I just saw this on Jill Cataldo's site. Apparently, there is a great deal that just started yesterday with the Breyer's ice cream. If you do it today, it is a really great deal because through today, Breyer's is Buy One Get Two Free.

The cat deal will be a $15/$30 deal and it has started early (yesterday).

You will need to buy 6 Breyers, but stay away from the fat free or low-fat varieties. People are reporting lots of problems with anything other than the normal (full fat) ice creams.

It looks like it’s kind of slow at the stores this week. Here are some good deals that I have found by searching some of the sites I usually go to each week. (Jill Cataldo, Mashup Mom) I have not gone through the sale ads yet (just skimmed them) so I will add anything else I find to this post later today.

Target

I saw on the Target site that there are lots of coupons for Halloween candy. Use those and combine with some mfg. coupons out there and you can get some cheap candy to pass out on Saturday.

Keebler cookies are on sale for $2.00, plus, buy two, get one free. So 3/$4.00! Make two of them Chips Deluxe and use the $1.00/2 Target coupon here. (Scroll down and print the newer one, not the one that expired yesterday.) Print $1.50/2 manufacturer coupon at Coupons.com (ZIP 01089). Print $1.00/2 here.
So here’s what I see. Buy 3 and get them for $1.50, or $.50/each, when you use one Target and one mfr coupon. Even better, buy 6! Two will be free, so now you’re at $8.00 for 6. A few good deals

Boston Market has a coupon for a $1.00 real chicken meal through 11/1. Here is the link: http://www.bostonmarket.com/restaurant?page=coupons It says it includes either the quarter white or 3-piece dark chicken meal served with mashed potatoes and cornbread.

Restaurant.com has the 80% off again through 10/31! The code is TREATS - enter this at checkout. If you haven't read about this on my blog before - this is a great way to eat out at a nice place and make it VERY inexpensive. We like to use the Pasta Mia coupons - they have great food, good service and we have a great meal with leftovers (they have HUGE portions). We just went last week using a certificate and paid around $50 for an appetizer, 6 adult meals, soda and a $12 tip plus 4 of us brought home lunch for the next day. :-)

Pillsbury deal at Jewel

**Edit - it worked!! I stopped on my way home from work and bought 6 - Pillsbury Savory Bites, which rang up at $4.49 each "sale" price ($4.49x6=$26.94) but were $3.49 Preferred price ($3.49x6=$20.94) - I used 6 $.55 coupons so my oop was $17.64 and I got the $10 cat! These were something that I wanted to get and forgot about during the deal - I've been wanting to try them. So, go get some stuff that maybe you forgot about - you have a couple of days! :-)**

According to Couponers Wanted, the end date for the $25/$5 deal that has been going on is 10/24. On their site, they had it as 10/25 but I wasn't sure if that was correct because everything else I have read said that it ended yesterday. Well, I figured I would wait until today to check and see if someone has tried it and if it worked or not. There has not been a post so far that anyone has actually done it today but someone posted that they confirmed with corporate that the deal was extended to 10/24 so if there are any gamblers out there - give it a shot today! I plan on trying this afternoon after work. I will report back!

Ok, sorry it has been quiet on here for a couple of days. I have still not been feeling well and so I have been moving slow and not shopping at my normal pace. Yesterday morning I went to my brothers church to help him out and then came home and spent the afternoon/early evening in bed! My head was splitting and I had so much pressure that I could not wear my contacts. Well, long story short, I went to the Minute Clinic (which I am loving by the way) this morning and my cold that has been bugging me for over 3 weeks had turned into a sinus infection! Well, now I have antibiotics and so I am hoping to feel a lot better in the next couple of days. Yay! Back to shopping! :-)

The current $25/$10 deal going on is working very well for people! I hope you are taking advantage of it. It's a great way to stock up! I have done 3 deals with the Pillsbury biscuits, cresent rolls, cinnamon rolls, cookies (Simply cookies are still all gone!) and the Betty Crocker fruit snacks. I have used coupons and this has given me $17.50 in cats each time - pretty much making it free or extremely close to free! I have also done one transaction with 11 boxes of Betty Crocker brownie mixes that I did not have coupons for. They are Preferred price of $1.00 each, but the "sale" price is $2.40 each so I paid $11.00 but received $10.00 cat back! If you get brownies from me at Christmas time, you will know where I got them! :-) I plan to go back and do a few more of those transactions and donate the brownies to the food pantry. I also want to do a few transactions of the soup and donate those too.

While I was at the store yesterday morning, I received a cat showing the following new deal:

Don't try to stack the $25/$10 deal. I have read that it was working for people on Thursday (I know it worked for my friend Cindy) but not working for people yesterday. It would not be worth loosing the $10 if it doesn't work. Just do 2 transactions and you will be sure to get all of your cats.

It worked! I went to Jewel yesterday and got all three cats for my transaction. I bought 6 Fruit Gushers & Scooby Doo fruit snacks (used 3-$.50/2 coupons) - you must use the $1.99 Price Cut price on these! and 6 Pillsbury Crescent rolls (used 3-$.50/2 coupons)and got a $3.50 cat, a $4.00 cat and a $10 cat! The rolls rang up at $3.17 at my store. Remember - check the prices at YOUR store though! My oop was $18.96 and I got back $17.50!

You should only need to buy 5 Fruit Snacks but I went ahead and got 6 and used another coupon. $1.99x5=$9.95 and 6x$3.17=19.02 so you would be way over the needed "sale" price of $25 but your Preferred price would be $19.97 less any coupons you have and then you will receive $17.50 back in cats. So, it could be a money maker if you have enough coupons!

My friend Cindy (who you can all thank for getting me to start this blog) went yesterday too and she stacked 2 of the transactions (over $50.00 in "sale" price) and did get 2 of the $10 cats! So, you can stack it at least 2 times. I don't think I would try 3 because that is a lot to loose if you don't get your cats! **Edit** Don't try to stack! Apparently it was not working for people on Friday - I wouldn't want you to lose $10 in cats trying this! Just do separate transactions.

Ok, if this deal wasn’t good enough, there are a couple of overlapping cat deals!

--Through 11/1 - Pillsbury refrigerated items (biscuits, Crescents, cookie dough, pie crust – now on Jill’s site someone said that the pie crust didn’t work for her for the extra cat but it is supposed to work so maybe it was a glitch in the system). Buy 6, get $4 cat.

--Through 11/1 - Buy GM Fruit Shapes, Fruit by the Foot, Fruit Gushers, Fruit Roll-ups, or Fruit Stickerz. Buy 3, get $1.50 cat, buy 4, get $2.50 cat, buy 5 or more, get $3.50 cat.

So, if you buy 6 Pillsbury items and 5 Fruit Snack items and fill in to get to the $25.00. You will get 3 cats! A $4 cat for the Pillsbury, a $3.50 cat for the fruit snacks and the $10 cat for the GM/Pillsbury deal! Save some on the shelves for me ok?!

I must first state that if you choose to do the deals this way, you are taking a risk of NOT getting the catalina coupons! If you don't get them, you CAN NOT complain to customer service. Although you are not doing anything wrong, it's the way Catalina and Jewel have set the deal up, you are going against the sales ad and you are doing this at your OWN risk. If it doesn't work out and you don't get your coupons, it could be that you got one item wrong (UPC not part of the deal) or you used the wrong price to reach your total or even that the Catalina system was down or the machine wasn't working (always make sure that the Catalina machine has a solid green light on). You can keep the items (that is what I do, as I took the risk) or you can return the items before you leave the store. If you take food out of the store, they can not return them to the shelves and throw them away. In my opinion, it is not fair for Jewel to lose money for a mistake that you may have made. If you work the deal on preferred prices and do not get your catalina coupons, then you can go to customer service for your coupons.Although the ads state that you have to spend $xx to get $xx on your next order it does not work that way. The way it is set up is that you must spend that amount in "sale" prices. Jewel has 3 prices on most items. They have the shelf price, the sale price and the preferred price. The price you want to use is the sale price. For example, the All Laundry detergent right now is $6.49 shelf price but is on a price cut for $5.49 and a preferred price of $3.50. The price you would use to get to the $30 is $5.49. So, you would need to buy 6 of them, which will cost you $21.00 (less any coupons) and you will get back $15 (3 - $5 catalina coupons)! Let me stress that it is really important that you scan the items at the price checker - look for it in your store - to be sure of the SALE price. The sale price is the price that the item will ring up at before the preferred discount is taken.

Jewel

Well, I finally got to Jewel today. I took my friend Mike shopping and we both did really well. He got 3 packages of burgers and 1 package of chicken for just over $5. Mike bought $20 worth of the $10/$3 instant savings deal and after the discount and coupons, he ended up paying about $9.00. I bought $67.00 worth of stuff and paid $14.60 oop after the discounts and coupons and $5.00 in Walgreens RR's that I used. They were out of the Quaker Chewy bars so we got a raincheck for those. They should be fully stocked next week when they are no longer on sale.

I did not get the Clorox catalina though. I don't know why, the green light was on but maybe it was just a glitch in the system. Who knows.

I peeked at the Jewel ad for tomorrow and it looks like a good one! There are a couple of double dippers - the Pillsbury biscuits and the GM fruit snacks. I hope to get some info up tonight. Right now, I have to take care of dinner and then go to the high school for a band meeting.

Clorox wipes are part of the $10/$3 instant savings deal this week, I wrote in the original post that there was a buy 2 wipes, get 1 free Clorox bleach coupon in the Ultra ad last week. Well, there is also a B2G1 coupon at www.cloroxclassrooms.com for the wipes. I just printed 2 so it is working!


I have read that a $3 cat is printing when you buy 3 Clorox wipes too. I don't know if it will print with the buy 2 wipes, get 1 free Clorox bleach coupon but I will try both tomorrow. Since the sale ends tomorrow, I wanted to post it in case you wanted to try it! :-)

It’s been super busy around here and I am still not feeling 100% - getting really tired of this cold! – so I'm sorry that it’s been a bit quiet on the blog. I haven’t even gotten to Jewel to do the $10/$3 instant savings deal yet! I know – I can’t believe it myself – there are good deals with this one! It is my goal to go tomorrow and hopefully they have some stuff left!

Today I took Amanda on our very first college visit. She is a Junior and so I guess I really need to get out of the denial stage and into the proactive stage and see what’s out there. She has done her part – has a great GPA and has great goals for herself – so now it’s a matter of visiting different schools, seeing what’s out there, seeing how much they will offer her, etc. in the next year. From what I have been told, it’s important to get those applications in early in Senior year so we have started the process. Yikes! Ok, Doug made a quick trip to Jewel this morning just for some meat. He got 6 packages of Pub burgers (2 in each package) that were $15.63 and 2 packages of boneless skinless chicken breasts that were $7.85. $8.20 were instantly deducted so oop was $15.47 for 12 burgers and 2 packs of chicken breasts! Yay!

I read this on Mashup Mom this morning! Just copied and pasted here so the credit goes to Rachel and her site and Couponers Wanted which is where it appears she saw it. Love the double dips! :-)

Aunt Jemima syrup is included in the buy 10 products, get them for $1.50 each instant savings deal — but also included in the Real Meal Deal “buy $10, get $2.00 back” Catalina. So if you need a lot of syrup… Don’t forget $1.00/2 8/30 RP. Also print $1.00/2 RedPlum.com.

Dr. Pepper! There is …. wait for it… another Dr. Pepper Catalina going through 11/7. (We still have some left from July…) Buy $15.00, get $5.00 back. So: Dr. Pepper 2-liters are in the instant savings deal, buy $10, get $3.00 off. They’re $1.00 each before instant savings, so $.70 each after savings.

Now on both of the above, here is where you have to be careful and do tricky math. Although these will work on pre-preferred prices, you have to account for the instant off savings, because these will affect your total for the Catalina. So for example, Dr. Pepper 2 liters are $1.88 “sale” price at many stores (CHECK AT YOURS). If you buy 10 2-liters, that’s $18.80 pre-preferred pricing (CHECK AT YOUR OWN PRICE SCANNER… yes, this is redundant, but important). However, it’s $15.80 after the $3.00 instant savings are accounted for, which just squeaks you through. So if you’re going to do Dr. Pepper for the Catalina, you’d have to buy at least 10 bottles, not the 8 bottles you’d normally need to buy at a $1.88 sale price.
So here’s the scenario for Dr. Pepper 2-liters, assuming $1.88 “sale” price: Buy 10 bottles for $10.00. Get $3.00 instant savings = $7.00. Get a $5.00 Catalina for a net cost of $2.00, or $.20/2-liter. (I sure wish I liked Dr. Pepper…) Thanks to Couponers Wanted for this one!

Update: It looks like people are getting the $2.00 Catalina for buying 4 Aunt Jemima syrup — but as always check the price at your store, and account for that instant discount!

AT&T resolved!

Ok, so I get home and print ALL of my bills for the last year (it was last Nov. when they were supposed to put the block on the phone) and figure it all out and then call AT&T. Well, I get the nicest representative named Mindy who treats me the way I should have been this morning! Long story short, she credits the $133.70 with no problem at all. She said, "I can see that you guys do not use the Internet on these phones and we will credit the charges." That's it - easy with no problems! I wasted all of that ink and paper for nothing! I am keeping it though with detailed notes on this issue, just in case it happens again...............

I have updated the Jewel post from yesterday with the coupon matchups I could find using Coupon Tom. They are listed in red next to the products. I did not get a chance to go to Jewel today and check things out - hopefully tomorrow! I really want to get some of the chicken and pub burgers. I'll let you know how I do! :-)

I am not going to be able to update the coupon matchups until this afternoon, sorry! I have been on the phone with AT&T all morning because I got an additional $133 usage charge on my bill for my daughters phone! I am so aggravated because this happened months ago (a much lesser charge) and they were supposed to put a data block on her phone because if you push a button (which is right on the outside of the phone!) then it connects you and you may not even realize it! She does not use the Internet on her phone (that's why I have an iPhone!) and so I blocked it. The man at AT&T is telling me this has never been done! Ugh, I am soooo mad - now I have to go through all of my bills and see when this was supposed to have been done and call them back. He said he could credit half of the charges - I told him I was not paying $65 for NOTHING!!! It would be different if she actually got to use the Internet on there! I told him that we have been with them for about 10 years - through about 4 companies and have never had an issue and now this!?!?!?!? UGH!!!! So, again I am sorry for not updating but I will get to it this afternoon.

The Jewel ad that starts tomorrow is nice and big! Lots of good deals! Here are a few things that jump out at me right away.

First, FAV 4 is back! Yay! I have taken advantage of the Fav 4 in the past with the chicken but nothing else really, I may have slipped in a pack of burgers here and there but the last time they had this promotion is when I realized what a REALLY great deal it can be! Of course, you are always going to look for the packages that are the cheapest – I try to find ones around $3.00 or so. The discount that they take off at the register is the same no matter what the prices are – just as long as you buy 4 packages of meat included in the deal, you will get $4.10 off your total. Last time, I realized that you could buy the packages of Pub burgers that had 1 or 2 in them and the discount would still be taken off. That works out to be a good deal! So, don’t only look for meat in the case marked with the Fav 4 items but check out what is there and included and then go to the regular part of the meat section those items are located and get smaller packages. Make sure that the UPC’s are the same or it may not work. Of course, this is the way it has worked in the past but until we try tomorrow, we won’t know if it’s working the same way. I hope so! There is a Fav 4 produce deal too but that isn’t as great of a deal, usually it’s on the larger pre-packaged fruit and veggies and doesn’t work out to be super cheap. I’ll let you know if I come across any great deals on that one.

My October challenge

I have decided to give myself a challenge for October. I have decided that we are going to live off our fairly large stockpile in October. There are a couple of reasons that made me make this decision - first, we are going on vacation in November so I need to try to be a bit more strict on our spending for next month or so. Second, I have come across a few things that are expiring soon and I need to use some of it up so this is the perfect time! I will be looking for some new recipes to try out and some creative ways to use what we have. I will still do my shopping for all of the deals out there but my goal is to have my oop be as low as possible for the next month. I will post throughout the month how it's going and hopefully I can inspire some of you to use up what you have in your full freezer and pantry!


Day 1
I have started by taking out some boneless pork ribs (bought super cheap) that I will throw in the crockpot in the morning with some bbq sauce (got free). I took out some buns from the freezer (got free) and we will have bbq pork sandwiches. I also have over 10 pounds of potatoes (cost about $1) that I need to use up so I am going to make some of Alex's favorite potatoes which are super easy! I just peel and slice them, put them on a cookie sheet (sprayed with Pam), top with a little butter on each slice, sprinkle with garlic powder and Parmesan cheese and bake at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes. I will make some of the free Green Giant veggies that are in the freezer. Of course, I will have to make a chicken breast for Amanda since that is the only meat she eats. We will have a nice meal for next to nothing! :-)
