Jewel Double Dip

Dr. Pepper! There is …. wait for it… another Dr. Pepper Catalina going through 11/7. (We still have some left from July…) Buy $15.00, get $5.00 back. So: Dr. Pepper 2-liters are in the instant savings deal, buy $10, get $3.00 off. They’re $1.00 each before instant savings, so $.70 each after savings.

Now on both of the above, here is where you have to be careful and do tricky math. Although these will work on pre-preferred prices, you have to account for the instant off savings, because these will affect your total for the Catalina. So for example, Dr. Pepper 2 liters are $1.88 “sale” price at many stores (CHECK AT YOURS). If you buy 10 2-liters, that’s $18.80 pre-preferred pricing (CHECK AT YOUR OWN PRICE SCANNER… yes, this is redundant, but important). However, it’s $15.80 after the $3.00 instant savings are accounted for, which just squeaks you through. So if you’re going to do Dr. Pepper for the Catalina, you’d have to buy at least 10 bottles, not the 8 bottles you’d normally need to buy at a $1.88 sale price.
So here’s the scenario for Dr. Pepper 2-liters, assuming $1.88 “sale” price: Buy 10 bottles for $10.00. Get $3.00 instant savings = $7.00. Get a $5.00 Catalina for a net cost of $2.00, or $.20/2-liter. (I sure wish I liked Dr. Pepper…) Thanks to Couponers Wanted for this one!

Update: It looks like people are getting the $2.00 Catalina for buying 4 Aunt Jemima syrup — but as always check the price at your store, and account for that instant discount!
